The Choctaw Volunteer Fire Department was organized in 1983.
Mr. Michael Delatte was the first fire chief of the department.
Mr. Craig Rink recently retired after 14 years as fire chief.
Both have been great assets to the department and the community.
Cody Rink has recently been elected as the third fire chief of the department. Cody has over 10 years of fire service experience, and also holds numerous credentials from the LSU Fire & Emergency Training Institute and other agencies.
The department is comprised of many brave and dedicated firemen from the community. Many members are specially trained beyond firefighting and are there to serve the community when called upon.
The department responds to a variety of calls for service including fires, medical emergencies, and rescue operations.
The department operates two stations. The Central Station (Station #1) houses a Pumper (Engine) and a Rescue/Salvage Unit. Station #2 houses a Pumper (Engine).
